Booking Terms
Last updated
These terms apply when you book a cupping session, barista training or a private or team event with us. They cover payment, cancellations, safety and what to expect on the day.
Making a booking
Sending an enquiry does not reserve a place. Your booking is confirmed once we confirm it in writing and receive payment or the deposit we ask for.
Prices and payment
We confirm the price when you book. Public cupping sessions and barista training are paid in full to secure your place.
Private and team events need a deposit to hold the date. We tell you the amount when we confirm. The balance is due on or before the day, as agreed, and is based on your final guest numbers. Please give us final numbers at least 72 hours before the event.
If you need to cancel
- Cupping and training, 7 or more days before: full refund, or move to another date.
- Cupping and training, 2 to 6 days before: move to another date once at no cost, or a 50% refund.
- Cupping and training, less than 48 hours before or no-show: no refund, but you can send someone in your place if you tell us beforehand.
- Private events, 14 or more days before: deposit refunded in full.
- Private events, less than 14 days before: the deposit is kept to cover preparation and food already bought.
If we need to cancel or change
If we cancel or need to move your booking, you can choose a new date or a full refund. We may change the coffees or the person leading a session, but the session will be of the same standard.
On the day
Please arrive on time. Sessions start as scheduled, and late arrivals may miss part of the session without a refund.
Coffee work involves hot water, steam, grinders and the roaster. Follow the team's instructions at all times. Tell us in advance about allergies or medical conditions we should know about. Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent and must be supervised.
Personal belongings are your responsibility. For private events, the person who books is responsible for guests' conduct and for any damage beyond normal wear.
Training certificates
Barista training ends with a Jowam certificate of attendance. It shows the skills covered in our course and is not a national or accredited qualification unless we state otherwise in writing.
Photos
We sometimes take photos at sessions and events for our social media. We will ask before posting anyone in a way that identifies them, and you can tell the team at any time if you would rather not be photographed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you are a consumer, nothing here stops you from using the Small Claims Court or any other forum the law gives you.
